DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES -- IT/DATA ENTRY AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS

Two skilled volunteers are needed to help with the Holiday Sharing Program from August-December at the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services' Annapolis Office, 80 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. The Holiday Sharing Program is an Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services program that provides families and seniors in need with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and/or gifts.

In 2014, with the help of 461 donors we directly helped 5,616 families and seniors. Thirty-three schools, churches and non-profit organizations in the county, cleared their families and seniors’ names from the Holiday Sharing database, enabling us to avoid duplication.  Working in partnership with these organizations, a total of 8,948 families and seniors throughout Anne Arundel County received food and or gifts for the holidays.

Volunteers will need strong organizational and computer skills, interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work with several different populations, such as volunteers, partners, staff, donors, families and seniors.  They will have the opportunity to enter family and senior wish lists into our data system, match donors to families and seniors, answer and make phone calls, and hand out giftcards. Volunteering must be in the office which is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Work hours are flexible.  Apply NOW, however work will start in August and then continue through the busy holiday season.

This is a great opportunity to work with a team of staff and volunteers to make a difference in the lives of thousands. Parking is reimbursed. If you are interested, please to provide a brief statement of your qualifications and relevant background for this volunteer opportunity.
