Youth Volunteer Corps

Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks is an affiliate of Youth Volunteer Corps, and it has programs that emphasize team work, compassion, environmental stewardship, community service, employment skills and volunteerism.   Learn about Summer Volunteer Youth Programs with Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks.

Opportunities range from participating in park conservation efforts to assisting staff in Summer Fun Centers and at Quiet Waters Day Camp to supporting the Adaptive Camp at Mayo Beach.  Transportation is NOT provided for all programs and certain grade restrictions apply.  There is a nominal fee for each program to offset costs of staff, shirts and special events. Limited scholarship is available for those who complete volunteer hours prior to the start of programs.  Please review all programs to determine which works best for you!

The application process for Summer Programs began on December 26, 2014.  Interviews begin February 21st, 2015.  We encourage you to apply early.  Applications must be received by 4:30 pm, May 8th, 2015.  Final decisions for all slots will be made by May 16th, 2015.  Acceptance in the program is not guaranteed.  This is a highly competitive volunteer program where applications and interviews will be ranked.  Those applicants who demonstrate maturity and responsibility during the process will receive invitations to volunteer.  Please pay close attention to the deadlines outlined in the application packet and check your emails often for updates.  If accepted, you will be part of an ever growing group of youth who are making real changes throughout Anne Arundel County and beyond!  For more information about applying, contact Wendy S. Scarborough, Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks, at 410-222-7313.
