HOSPICE OF THE CHESAPEAKE -- REIKI MASSAGE

Hospice of the Chesapeake is seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to join our robust Healing Arts Program as Reiki Volunteers. Both already-trained Reiki practitioners who feel ready to provide Reiki to hospice patients and those who are not trained but are interested in learning Reiki are encouraged to inquire.  For those volunteers who are not yet trained but are interested in joining our Healing Arts program, we make classes available to prepare our volunteers to provide this relaxing and healing service to our patients at the end-of-life.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

At Hospice of the Chesapeake, our overarching mission is to care for life throughout the journey with illness and loss by providing physical, psycho-social, and spiritual support services to individuals living with and affected by advanced illness. As a fully licensed, community-based non-profit organization, we provide services to those in need at the place that they call home - regardless of their age or ability to pay.  An integral component of this team-oriented, holistic approach is our Hospice Volunteer Team, who consistently serves above and beyond to support our hospice patients and their families in a variety of ways.  Hospice Volunteers are one of the few who can make a true difference in someone’s life by offering a small portion of their time, energy, and skills.

If you are interested, please to provide a brief statement of your qualifications and relevant background for this volunteer opportunity.
